The Core i7-10700K lands near the bottom of the chart but beats the Core i9-9900K at stock settings. It isn't surprising to see the Ryzen 9 3950X take the lead, but its 16 cores and 32 threads set the benchmark for the highest-end of the mainstream X570 platform, and also the highest pricing at $740. Stockfish, an open-source chess engine, is designed to extract the utmost performance from many-core chips by scaling well up to 512 cores. Given the Core i7-10700K's similar eight-core 16-thread design and much lower pricing, it's clear Intel has moved quite a bit forward on the value front as a response to the Ryzen 3000 series processors. The Core i7-10700K's high clock speeds pay dividends in this benchmark, and we see what will become a familiar trend: The Core i7-10700K is faster than the Core i9-9900K that retails for $488 (MSRP, current street prices higher). VRMark's test values per-core performance (a mixture of frequency and IPC), and it obviously prefers physical cores and lots of 元 cache. That's important to keep in mind, as recent deep price cuts find the 3990X hovering at the ~$410 price point. However, the Ryzen 9 3900X steps in with a lead in both tests, even beating the overclocked 10700K. Meanwhile, the 10700K's sixteen threads respond more readily in the Time Spy benchmark as it distances itself from the Ryzen 7 models, and overclocking expands the lead. Surprisingly, the ever-so-slightly-faster $329 Ryzen 7 3800X trails both of those contenders by roughly 500 points. I haven't tried DX12 at all as I don't care to try RT without hardware support.The $387 (MSRP, current street prices higher) Core i7-10700K falls into the bottom portion of the Fire Strike test results, grappling with the $300 Ryzen 7 3700X. Overall I'm really happy with performance. 1080p with MSAA dramatically lessens this. An easy spot to notice it is on the vertical blinds on office rooms that have window walls. It's a very soft looking game so I can't even really notice any difference in sharpness or clarity, but at 1440p with no MSAA there is a lot of flickering on movement. What sold me is 1080p with MSAA actually looks better than 1440p, in that there is much less temporal flickering. I was running in 1440p originally, but it would drop below 60fps pretty frequently, even with MSAA off. I'm actually really surprised at how good 1080p looks. I also have Vsync in-game turned off and am using Adaptive Vsync from the Nvidia Control Panel, as the in-game vsync dropped performance quite a bit. I'm usually between 1440p-1800p and that's good enough for me.įor Control, I'm running in DX11 mode, 4k output, 1080p native rendering, everything maxed except for Volumetric Lighting on Medium, and 4X MSAA. I find there are few modern games my 1080 Ti can actually run at native 4k at 60fps. Just wanted to follow up and share my experience in case people here that don't have 2080s or whatever are curious how it runs on lower end stuff. The only thing I noticed (because I died a bunch against one particular enemy =\) is that the load times are pretty rough, but I'm sure a lot of that had to do with having to use my HDD instead of my SSD. I suspect it will get more challenging to run later on, especially if it becomes more CPU intensive, but I was pleasantly surprised at the performance considering my modest GPU and relatively weak platform/CPU. It never dropped below 60FPS in the section I played, with the game generally hovering between 75-90FPS. For settings, I just chose the "High" preset and turned off MSAA since outer-edge aliasing didn't seem very noticeable anyway, and MSAA is pretty expensive. Running in DX11 at 1080p render output using borderless. RX 570 4GB with a moderate overclock (1330MHz on the core, 1800MHz on the memory) I'm not great at the game, but at least it runs really well so far. Don't know when I'll get to play it again (a friend came over and logged into his account on my PC to let me try it), but I got up to the cleanse point in Dead Letters before we called it quits. Just wanted to pop in and say I finally got a chance to play this a little bit today.
